BEHL Disciplinary Process

The BEHL is committed to providing an adult recreational hockey league that is safe, friendly, and fun for all players. 

It is the responsibility of all players to play and interact with these goals in mind, to educate and encourage others to do likewise, and to report problems to the BEHL Executive Committee (the “board”) or team managers.

BEHL DISCIPLINARY PROCESS

When a written complaint is received by any member of the board or any team manager the complaint will be forwarded to the Disciplinary Committee ASAP (see Operating Procedures for more information about the Disciplinary Commitee).

The Disciplinary Committee will:

  1. Review the complaint and respond to the person making the complaint within two days.
  2. Inform the board and the team managers within two days.
  3. Research the situation—get feedback from those involved, including the individual and others as needed.
  4. Consult with SKAHL as needed.
  5. Determine the best course of action and send in writing via email for review by the board and team managers.
  6. Review feedback and suggestions regarding the proposed course of action and refine until the majority of the board and team managers are in agreement.
  7. Contact in writing via email the individual making the complaint with the outcome within 14 days of the complaint.
  8. Based on the course of action contact in writing via email, and in person as needed, any offending individuals.
  9. The final write up is archived for future reference in case of future issues with the offending individuals and to ensure consistency of actions as other situations arise.
